Results are In on Madison 2018-2019 Budget Referendum
Residents voted on next year's budget a townwide referendum on Tuesday; read below to see the results of the townwide vote.

MADISON, CT - Madison residents the 2018-19 budget at a townwide referendum on Tuesday.
The reporting of the results were impacted by Tuesday’s storm, which caused scatttered power outages and delayed the results awhile.
On the ballot, residents were asked to vote on the town and BOE budgets separately.

The town budget passed by a 884 to 658 vote; the school budget passed by a 905 to 643 vote.
Together the town and Board of Education budget is slightly more than $83 million - an increase of slightly less than $1.2 million or 1.44 percent from current spending.

The town budget is $24.9 million; the school spending is $58.1 million.
The budget is expected to lead to an an increase in the mill rate from 27.30 to 28.04 mills - a 2.71 percent hike.
With the current mill rate projection of 28.04, officials said a that a resident with an average assessed home value of $400,000, the tax increase comes to about $300 annually.
