MANCHESTER, CT — An adult, two young children, and three first responders were treated at local hospitals on New Year's Eve after a pond rescue in Manchester, fire department officials said Wednesday.

The three fell into the frigid quarter-acre pond about 200 yards off Hackmack Street just after 2 p.m., and they were about 35 feet offshore in the six-foot deep water when police and the firefighters arrived, according to officials.

The Manchester Fire Department responded with a five-company, cold water rescue assignment team and they rescued all three within around 10 minutes, officials said.
