Join Grace Grinnell of NAMI CT (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and Steven MacHattie, LCSW, of Charter Oak Family Center, for a program that aims to reduce the stigma of suicide by encouraging frank, open dialogue about reasons teens and adults might have for not disclosing suicidal thoughts and past attempts. Instructors will share published research and personal stories of survivors; participants will gain insight from persons with lived experience, learn to articulate several emotional, interpersonal, practical reasons for reticence among persons contemplating suicide and identify key strategies – including therapeutic interventions – to increase the likelihood of help seeking and honesty. No registration required for this free program for adults.
