MANCHESTER, CT — The specialty chicken finger chain Raising Cane's has announced the opening day for its next restaurant in Connecticut.

It's Oct. 28 in Manchester.

The new restaurant is at 75 Buckland St., a busy intersection at the corner of Redstone Rod and down a hill from the Cinemark Buckland Hills movie theater complex.

The land was cleared in anticipation of future development in April 2013 as part of a project that included blasting away at a rock wall. Though prepped, the 1.03-acre parcel sat undeveloped for 11 years, as other businesses and restaurants popped up around the location.

Late last October, Raising Cane's was announced as the tenant.

Raising Cane's was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1996 and specializes in "hand batter premium chicken that's marinated for 24 hours," according to its website. The restaurant only serves its famous chicken fingers along with sides like crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast. The chicken fingers are accentuated by its special Cane's Sauce.

Raising Cane's opened its first Connecticut location in Enfield in February and its fourth in Milford late last month.

It also has restaurants in Simsbury and and Wethersfield.

Opening days tend to draw crowds that get there hours in advance and long lines.
