Equipment Crash Snarls Traffic Along Broad Street

Driving down Broad Street was more difficult than usually Wednesday afternoon - that's because one of the large trucks being used to regrade and resurface the road had tipped over.

A video from the scene is attached to this article.

The town has been undertaking a $3 million reconstruction project of Broad Street since last spring, which is mostly financed through state funds. The project was supposed to be completed by early summer of 2013.

Public Works Director Mark Carlino told Patch that the contractor would be responsible for removing the machine, which is also known as a reclaiming machine.

"Obviously, a machine that big is going to need some speciality equipment to make some repairs and get it out of the street there," Carlino said. "Right now, I don't have an estimate as to how long that's going to take."
