Gas Main Break Leads to Evacuation of Union Street

A gas main leak near the intersection of Union and North Main streets Tuesday led to the evacuation of a portion of Union Street.

Emergency personnel said the break occurred due to a construction project at the intersection. The portion of Union Street nearest North Main Street has been evacuated and the road is closed.

The break was reported around 12:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
