A Popeyes Chicken location could soon open at 199 Spencer St. in town, the site of the former Friendly's.
Realty Income Corporation bought the almost 3,500-square foot building earlier this month for $1.49 million, and is currently seeking a special exemption for the building to allow for a drive-through at the location.
According to plans submitting to the Manchester Planning Department, 2,500 square feet of the building would be used for the Popeyes location, including the drive through, while "the use of the remaining 995 square feet has not been determined, but it is anticipated to be retail."
The building has sat vacant since the Friendly's closed in January of 2012.
