Grand opening held Friday.

While holding the ribbon cutting and grand opening for Real Warrior Entertainment on Friday, South Windsor Mayor Tom Delnicki couldn't help but draw an analogy between professional wrestling and politics.

"You have foreign objects, we have mudslinging," Delnicki quipped. "You have steel cage matches, we have debates. You have battle royales, we have elections."

Delnicki concluded by welcoming the unique business to town.

"I don't know about you, but I'm ready to rumble," he said.

And while there were plenty of smiles and body slams to go around, the business model is no laughing matter to RWE owner Craig Margelony.

The RWE, located at 1257 John Fitch Blvd., will feature professional wrestling matches every Friday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.rwewrestling.com.

In addition, the business has a school - the School of Hard Knocks - that will teach people ages 18 and over to learn how to be a professional wrestler, referee or ring announcer.

Sessions go for $30 for starters and $125 per month for more advanced classes.

Members may join the school for $1,500 for an entire year.

Two wrestlers grappled together on Friday to show off what the school has to offer (see the video).

The event also featured a food drive for the Hockanum Food Pantry - patrons who brought a non-perishable food item received $5 off their admission.

Margelony, clad in a dapper white suit, was grateful for the turnout.

"Lets get ready to rumble," he said. "Lets have fun."
