Driver Blocks Traffic On CT Route 66, Fails DUI Test: State Police
A woman who stopped short in the middle of a major thoroughfare into eastern Connecticut is facing a drunken driving charge.

COLUMBIA, CT — A driver who came to an abrupt stop in the midst of traffic on a major thoroughfare into eastern Connecticut turned out to be intoxicated, according to an incident report.
At 8:51 p.m. Wednesday, a state trooper was patrolling the westbound side of Route 66 in Columbia, according to an incident report.
A Subaru sedan traveling in front the the trooper suddenly began reducing speed and the driver activated her right turn signal, according to an incident report. The trooper began to slow down as well and the Subaru came to an abrupt stop in the westbound lane with its right turn signal still activated, according to an incident report.

The trooper pulled alongside the Subaru and asked the driver it she were OK and the trooper then noticed signs of impairment, including slurred and slow speech, according to an incident report. The trooper managed to get the driver to pull the Subaru onto the shoulder and she then failed a sobriety test, according to an incident report.
The 32-year-old Columbia resident was charged with failure to carry a driver's license, driving under the influence and improper parking.

State police said subsequent testing showed that the woman's blood alcohol content was nearly double the legal limit of .08.
The woman was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Nov. 14.
