A new Patch series presents an up-close look at the dogs who serve.

STORRS, CT — A new segment is being introduced in 2025 that will give a glance into the canines that serve in public service roles. In this month's edition, we will delve into the life of canine officer Tildy.
Tildy, handled by Justin Cheney, is a yellow lab-golden retriever mix who celebrated her ninth birthday on Jan. 7. She serves as one of the community outreach ambassadors for the University of Connecticut.
Tildy was born in 2016 and joined the community outreach department in 2018.

While strolling the campus, Tildy found herself a love interest in UConn's official Husky, Jonathan XIV and they are known to share ice cream at the Dairy Bar and long galivants through the snow.
Tildy is currently training her counterpart, Jazmine. The lovely ladies can be found at different events around the campus and enjoy the occasional pup cup and extra pets.
