The Mansfield Historical Society will hold its November meeting and program on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 7:30 PM. It will be a virtual event via ZOOM. The ever-popular Nicholas Bellantoni, Connecticut State Archaeologist, Emeritus, will return as our speaker. He and co-author Barbara Ann Kipfer recently published ‘Hiking Ruins of Southern New England,’ a guide to hiking archaeological sites in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. He will discuss several of the nearby hikes featured in the guide and describe their archaeological sites and history. The event is free, but registration is required. Once registered, the ZOOM link information will be emailed to you.

Hiking Ruins of Southern New England is available on Amazon and at local bookstores. The guide describes each of the 40 hikes with a map and summary information that delivers the trail’s vital statistics. Directions to the trailhead are provided, along with a general description of what you’ll see along the way. A detailed route finder (miles and directions) describes significant landmarks along the trail.
There will be a drawing for an autographed copy of the book at the meeting. Please plan to attend. Nick Bellantoni is always an informative and entertaining speaker!
