MANSFIELD, CT — A stranger who wandered into a home in Mansfield over the weekend is facing criminal charges, state police said.

At 3:48 a.m. Saturday, state police were dispatched to a home on Monticello Lane in Mansfield after receiving a call about an "unknown and unwanted," man inside the residence.

State police were told that the occupants of the home could hear someone moving around on a lower level. When troopers arrived, they located someone sleeping in a bedroom who was not supposed to be there, according to an arrest report.

The man, identified as a 21-year-old from Newburyport, MA, told state police he thought he was at another home, according to an arrest report.

State police arrested the man and charged him with second-degree criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

He is due in court on April 9, records show.
