Snowstorm Knocks Out Power, Prompts School Closures In Mansfield
Nearly 20 percent of Eversource's Mansfield customer base was without power Thursday morning.

MANSFIELD, CT — A fast-moving clipper system left schools closed in Mansfield Thursday and nearly 20 percent of the town's residents without power.
"Due to ongoing challenges with this storm, Mansfield Public Schools is now closed for today, Thursday, December 5, 2024. In collaboration with our regional districts and Public Works, we have decided to cancel school for today," school system officials said Thursday morning.
According to the Eversource Energy Outage Map, a total of 1,499 households were without power Thursday morning. That's 19.75 percent of the utility's local customers. At 11:30 a.m., the count was 1,177.

The number was down to 727 at 1:45 p.m. and to 20 at 6:15 p.m.
