NORTH WINDHAM, CT — A popular sports bar and restaurant near two colleges has had its license suspended because of sales to a minor.

The State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Commission said the Sports Bar at 157 Boston Post Road has been fined $1,000 and its liquor permit has been suspended from July 3 to July 5.

Though the suspension comes over a holiday weekend, both Eastern Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut are not in session at that time.

The restaurant is 2.5 miles from Eastern and 7.8 miles from UConn.

The suspension resolves "issues" concerning state law 30-86, which makes it a felony to sell or provide alcohol to a minor younger than 21.
