Stepped-Up Patrols On Coventry Lake Produce Results
Coventry and Encon police were out in force on he water for the holiday weekend.

COVENTRY, CT — Coventry Police Department's Marine Patrol Unit conducted extensive water enforcement, along with the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Police Department during the holiday weekend on Coventry Lake.
In all, the CPD Marine Patrol Unit conducted 12 hours of on-water enforcement.

- 51 - contacts regarding personal flotation device checks
- 2 - contacts regarding slow-no-wake of vessel during quite hours
- 1 - slow-no-wake violation of personal water craft within 200 feet of the shore
- 1 - failure to display current vessel registration decals on vessel
- 3 - infractions issued regarding insufficient PFD's on manually propelled devices while underway
- 3 - contacts for failure to wear PFD's while on a manually propelled devices
- 1 - 911 response for an overturned kayaker/public safety assist
