UConn School of Business Launching New 1-Year MBA Program

STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut School of Business is launching a new one-year MBA program, billed as "a fast-track alternative that offers the same rigor, coursework, and faculty instruction as the two existing MBA paths," but can be completed in about half the time.

The 42-credit One-Year MBA program will begin this summer, school officials said.

The School currently serves 750 MBA students, enrolled in either a completely online MBA program or a flexible, hybrid alternative.

The new program targets all levels of professionals seeking job- or career-changes, said Mia Hawlk, the executive director of MBA programs.She added the program is expected to draw to draw "significant interest," based on conversations she has had with potential candidates.

Academic director Redona Methasani said in designing the program, "leadership was committed to maintaining academic integrity while providing the support and structure that would allow students to succeed in a fast-paced academic environment."

The One-Year MBA can be structured to allow people to remain employed while pursuing their degree, Methasani added.

The One-Year MBA offers flexible entry points in the summer, fall, or spring, allowing students to progress through the program and complete their degree in a year. Students may select from seven concentrations, including: Business Analytics, Business Ethics and Compliance; Finance; General Business; Management; Marketing and Supply Chain Management.

The UConn MBA program has received high rankings in recent surveys by Forbes, U.S. News and World Report and Poets and Quants, highlighting graduate success, career satisfaction, student support and salary increases.
