UConn Women's Basketball Season Opener Moved To U.S. Naval Academy

STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut women's basketball 2025-26 season opener against Louisville, slated for on Tuesday, Nov. 4 as part of the Armed Forces Classic, has been relocated from Germany to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.

The announcement was made Thursday night.

As the first-ever women’s basketball matchup in the Armed Forces Classic, the Huskies and Cardinals will still tipoff at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

This will be the 10th edition of the Armed Forces Classic. Owned and operated by ESPN Events, the Armed Forces Classic was created in 2012 as part of ESPN's annual America's Heroes: Salute to Veteran's initiative, which dedicates a week of multiplatform programming for Veterans Day.

Said Clint Overby, vicxe president of ESPN events, "We've made the decision to move the 2025 Peraton Armed Forces Classic to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. For more than a decade, this event has celebrated the lives and contributions of our military, and we’re appreciative of the Naval Academy for helping provide a first-class venue for this first-ever women’s college basketball matchup that will showcase perennial powers Louisville and UConn."
