MANSFIELD, CT — A vehicle crashed into a sign as it hopped onto a traffic island in Mansfield, state police said.

According t0 a state police crash report, at 1:49 p.m. on Oct. 24, a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander being driven by a 69-year-old Vernon man was headed east on Route 275 near Maple Road.

The driver was looking at a construction detail, became distracted, and, when turning left, wound up cutting things short and drive onto the center island of Maple Road, according to a crash report.

The Mistubishi hit a town of Mansfield sign in the process, according to a crash report.

The car sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene, state police said.
