MANSFIELD, CT — A car rammed into a fence in a New Year's Day crash in Mansfield, state police said.

The crash took place at 7:52 a.m., according to a crash report.

A 1999 Volvo V70 was heading west on Pleasant Valley Road near Mansfield City Road and ran off the pavement on a right curve, state police said. It then crashed into a fence on a private parcel, according to a crash report. About 20 feet of fencing was damaged, including a metal gate, according to a crash report.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Willimantic, and the passenger, a 27-year-old man from Willimantic, escaped injury, state police said.
