Car Drives Off Road, Ends Up In Pond Behind Popular Downtown Restaurant: Milford Police
Officers were patrolling the downtown area and saw a vehicle drive off the road and into a pond, police said.

MILFORD, CT — A car ended up driving off the road and landing in the pond behind the Stonebridge Restaurant, in downtown Milford, police said.
At 1 a.m. Sunday, officers patrolling the downtown area saw a vehicle drive off New Haven Avenue into the pond behind Stonebridge Restaurant, police said.
"Officers immediately jumped into the water without hesitation and were able to remove the occupant from the vehicle before it submerged moments later," police said in a social media post. "Milford Fire Department responded and evaluated the driver for any injuries. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with DUI and evading as it was discovered he also hit a vehicle in the area of Shipyard Lane before taking off and driving into the pond. Amazing job to all of our officers involved! We applaud you for your bravery, quick thinking, and professionalism!"
