MILFORD, CT – MaryJo Downs, Milford’s Farmers Market Master, said she was happy to see familiar faces at both the Downtown Milford Farmers Market and Walnut Beach Farmers Market.
“Our opening day on June 10 downtown was fabulous,” she said. “All the vendors showed up, and it was great to see familiar faces. They came out for the fresh strawberries.”

“We are going to have a balloon artist, a hula-hoop activity for children to learn how to hula-hoop, face painters, kid’s activities like arts and crafts and we have crayons and chalk,” Downs said. “The balloon artist is standard because he makes those oversized balloons, and the kids love them.”
Downs said the Children’s Market starts around 10 a.m. and goes through noon on Saturday.

“Milford is wonderful. There are lots of young families who come to the farmers market,” she said. “It’s wonderful to see the children grow from season to season and how tall they are getting, and they remember me, which makes me feel awesome.”
Downs said the fresh vegetables will start showing up around July at the farmer’s markets.
Downs is not only the market master for the Downtown Milford Farmers Market but also the Walnut Beach Farmers Market.
“Walnut Beach Farmers Market is on Thursday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and that is through Sept. 21,” Downs said.
The next scheduled Walnut Beach Farmers Market is on Thursday, June 22.
Downs said there will be food trucks, fresh bakers, homemade hummus and much more.
“It is a wonderful vibe at Walnut Beach, from the food trucks to the live music,” she said. “People can bring a chair to enjoy the music or walk along the shore. It’s a wonderful vibe.”
Downs said she will bring her bocce set on Thursday for marketgoers to enjoy a fun game.
“I dug out my bocce set for family and friends to enjoy before they head home for the evening,” she said.
