Fire Engulfs Car On Route 15: Milford FD

MILFORD, CT — Fire crews responded to a report of a car on fire Monday evening, Adam Hansen, Milford Fire Department PIO, said.

Around 7:17 p.m. Milford Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received 12 separate 911 calls of a car on fire on the Route 15 connector/feeder southbound near Exit 2B, Hansen said.

When fire crews arrived on the scene, they saw the car's engine compartment fully engulfed in fire, Hansen said.

Two occupants were able to remove themselves from the burning vehicle before fire crews arrived, Hansen said.

Fire personnel quickly stretched a hose line and extinguished all visible fire, Hansen said.

The vehicle was overhauled, and the contents in the passenger compartment were salvaged/protected. Fire crews checked for and mitigated all hazards, Hansen said.

A tow truck was called for, the car was removed, and all companies/members got off the highway safely, Hansen said.
