Milford Literacy Center Seeks Funds

The Milford center is seeking financial assistance.

MILFORD--A local literacy center that serves the Milford community is looking for monetary help from the town.

Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut, a longtime member of the Milford community, is looking for financial assistance due to a shortfall in fundraising and grants, The Milford Mirror reports.

Director Tami Jackson asked the Board of Aldermen to aid the program, which for the past 22 years has operated out of Milford and offers ESL, tutoring, reading and literacy programs to the community, according to The Mirror.

To date, the center is short $8,000 of its $95,000 annual budget, Jackson said
