Milford Now Offering Pickleball Lessons

MILFORD, CT — As pickleball becomes popular in Milford, the city’s recreation department now offers pickleball lessons for those who want to familiarize themselves with the growing sport.

There are four sessions available for pickleball lessons. Session 1 starts May 22 through June 19; Session 2 is July 10-Aug. 2; Session 3 is Aug. 7 through Aug. 31, and Session for is Sept. 5 through Oct. 2.

A mini session (1 hour for ½ session) is planned for June 26 through June 30.

Three types of lessons will be offered: beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate lessons twice a week on Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday.

Each lesson will be 1 hour long with 10 people per group. Classes will last four weeks for a total of eight lessons per session.

The beginner’s lesson is for those new to the game who haven’t played pickleball before. The advanced beginner is for those with less than one year of playing experience, and the intermediate level is for those with more than one year of playing experience.

You must bring a pickleball paddle to the lessons.

Rudy Meredith is the instructor certified in the IPTPA International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association Levels 1 and 2.

Meredith brings a decorated pickleball playing career to his teaching, including the 2019 USAPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Mixed Doubles and Singles Championships, 2021 National Senior Game Qualifier and 2021 Minto US Open Singles Champion.
