I originally started making vintage-industrial lamps. These often used antique-style filament bulbs with tungsten filaments.

Why start a business in this town?

My wife and I moved to Milford when she began nursing school in 2012.

Briefly, what business are you in?

Tungsten Customs makes custom and originally designed lamps, clocks, and furniture.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

Continually coming up with new projects is always a ton of work.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?

My newest creation, now funding on Kickstarter, is the most beautiful product I’ve ever made. I’m really proud of it.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community?

I try to shop locally for materials as much as possible, and buy almost all of my lumber in Connecticut. I also ship almost exclusively through the Postal Service, so I give the folks at the local Post Office a lot of business!
