Milford's Kickoff To Summer Event To Include Fireworks, Food Trucks
The 2023 Kickoff To Summer Event will feature bands, food trucks and fireworks in downtown Milford.
MILFORD, CT — The Kickoff to Summer event staff is working hard to prepare for the annual event in June.
“This year, the Kickoff to Summer event is on Saturday, June 24, from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in Downtown Milford,” Dan Worroll said, Kickoff to Summer chairman.
Worroll said two bands will be at the event, Sapphire and the Rum Runners.

“There will also be food trucks, and the fireworks go off at 9:15 p.m., and they will be visible throughout the downtown area,” he said.
One of the new and key parts of the Kickoff to Summer is the three shuttle buses.

“The shuttle buses are free, just like the event (for those) who want to attend,” he said. “They will run from the Senior Center, Harborside School and Wasson Field. Last year there were two, but this year we are increasing it to three.”
Wasson said it will be important for people to take the shuttle buses because there won’t be any parking in the Lisman Landing Area.
“That also includes Folwer Field because that’s where the fireworks will be launched,” he said. “People might find parking downtown somewhere, but the best thing for people to do is to take the shuttle buses, and there is no cost to take the buses.”
Worroll said the buses will be going constantly throughout the entire event.
The Kickoff to Summer event’s rain date is Friday, July 7.
“Much of all the funding for this event comes from donations,” Worroll said. “We are still accepting donations, and if anyone wants to donate, they can contact me.”

“Everything went up 20 percent this year, but many of the businesses in Milford have donated money to purchase the fireworks, and we are thankful for that,” he said.
Milford’s Kickoff to Summer event is not just popular with the locals but with others coming from out of town.
“The boat slips have all been sold out for that day,” Worroll said. “It is one of the biggest events for Milford and Lisman Landing has for the year.”
