Margaret Burke, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023, after 93 beautiful years of a prayerful and happy life.

She was born on January 17, 1930, in the Bronx, NY, to the late Michael and Margaret Flanagan. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph P. Burke, after 42 years of marriage.

She was a devoted mother of three who is survived by her son Joseph Burke Jr., daughter Catherine Liontas (husband Peter), and predeceased by her daughter Margaret Gomes of Fort Meyers, Fla.

Margaret has seven grandchildren: Gary Gomes, Jamie Pledger, Melissa Smith, Jason Gomes, Taryn Bogert, Kaila Collins, and Kyle Collins. She also has eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren! She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

Affectionately called Peggy, Margaret is predeceased by her two siblings: Theresa Hickey and Michael Flanagan, as well as her cousin, who was like a sister, Theresa Conway. Her many nieces and nephews will also miss Aunt Peggy.

Margaret worked part-time at Alexander's Department Store in Milford, and after retirement, she volunteered for the Milford Hospital Thrift Shop. Her hobbies included ceramics and knitting.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated that day at 11 a.m. Saint Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf St.

Interment to follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave.
