Matthew P. Bauby, 48, of Milford, passed away on July 16, 2023.

Born on March 11, 1975, in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of John P. and Deborah (Kochiss) Bauby.

A graduate of Masuk High School, Matt took courses at Housatonic Community College.

Matt was an avid traveler who traveled cross-country and visited Europe, Amsterdam, Spain, and Mexico. One favorite destination was Las Vegas, where he enjoyed playing roulette.

Matthew worked in the building trades, where he did electrical and plumbing. He was a health enthusiast and spent many happy hours in the gym and walking the beach near his house.

Matt enjoyed all kinds of music and loved to dance. He loved people and life. All his friends said he had a flare for fashion, and his style was unique. He was a whiz at electronics and often helped others fix their computers.

Matt loved animals and helped rescue many of his pets. His favorite rescue was an English Bulldog named Bridie.

He enjoyed canoeing and went white-water rafting in Maine and North Carolina. Matt enjoyed playing youth soccer in the league his parents started at Wooster Jr. High in Stratford, Conn.

Matt loved attending dinner with friends and family and excelled at cooking at home, often making grilled steak or his highly requested baked ziti for special occasions.

Matt was a generous man and was a part of the bone marrow donor list for 15 years with the American Red Cross.

Matt will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.

In addition to his loving parents, Matt is survived by his brother, J. Eric Bauby of Easton, Conn.; aunts and uncles, Johanna (Michael) Shafer of New York, Ken Kochiss of Stratford Conn., William Kochiss of Stratford, Conn., Robert (Fanny) Kochiss of Fairfield CT, and Pamela Werth of Scottsdale AZ; and his many cousins. Matthew was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Astrid and Leo Bauby of Stratford, Conn., and maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Robert Kochiss of Bridgeport, Conn.

A Memorial Service will be held for Matthew at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
