Special Weather Statement Issued For Southern Connecticut Tuesday: Here's What To Know
A timeline for potentially severe weather on Tuesday has also been released by forecasters.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement up until 9 a.m. for all of southern Connecticut.
"Areas of fog have developed across the region. There is some patchy dense fog where visibilities have been reduced to near a half to quarter of a mile. Motorists should be aware of rapidly changing visibilities and proceed with extra caution. Use low beam headlights, reduce speeds, and leave extra distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you," according to the National Weather Service.

"As a storm system arrives today, the likelihood for rain with embedded thunderstorms will increase. Fortunately, the round essentially begins (or ramps up) *after* the AM commute and then ends *before* the PM commute. During the afternoon, we’ll see clearing get underway from west to east. As a cold front pushes through the region around sunset, there’s a low-end chance for an isolated shower/storm. Otherwise, expect temps to reach the upper 60s and lower 70s. Keep in mind, in terms of severe weather, we’re at a level one, which isn’t horrible, but it’s still there. If the skies look threatening, please head in doors," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists.
