SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has just issued a special weather statement for the entire area Thursday morning.

"Areas of fog this morning may become locally dense, reducing visibilities to 1/4 mile or less at times. Motorists should use low beam headlights and remain alert for rapidly changing visibilities. Allow extra time to reach your destination," the weather service said.

Rain showers are forecast Thursday night with up to a half-inch of rain. The rain could linger until midday Friday but wind gusts could approach 40 mph, the weather service said.
