“This is not an ordinary challenge,” Smeland stated. “It is not a 5K or a race, and it will take teamwork from all citizens of this amazing city to make it a success. The best part is you will be doing something you may already do every day – go for a walk in your neighborhood.”
Participations pick out and purchase a route for $20 that covers their neighborhood or any other pre-planned routes they want to walk.
All participants will begin their walks at dawn and will use the “Map my Walk” app to track the streets walked. Once participants complete their walks, they will take a screenshot of the map of the walk in the app and email it to Walk with Buddy, Inc. Then, gather at Fowler Field to take group photos of participants and enjoy a Wellness Fair, live music, yoga, food truck, vendors and education tables.
“What sets this challenge apart is that no one has ever attempted to gather together a community to walk an entire city in just a couple of hours to raise awareness and funds for a cause,” Smeland stated. “Milford is a Small City with a Big Heart.”
