2,500+ Connecticut Residents Lose Power After Fast-Moving Storm

Over 1,300 Monroe residents, as well as many in surrounding towns are without power Monday after thunderstorms hit the area.

A fast-moving storm knocked out power to more than 2,000 Connecticut residents Monday afternoon. Monroe was hit hardest in Connecticut with 1,310 Eversource customers currently without power.In Bethel, 3 customers were affected, 930 in Newtown are out, 27 are out in Brookfield and 33 in Danbury. Compare that with Ridgefield who have 210 currently without power, 33 in Wilton and you can see which part of the state was hit the hardest.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 8 p.m. this evening. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and Hartford counties from late morning until Monday evening and people are urged to remain indoors as much as possible on Monday.

Tuesday is another hot day and after that the temps head south a bit and back into the 80s for all of Connecticut but there appears to be stormy weather ahead possibly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with thunderstorms possible each day.
