Stray Beagle-Mix Needs a Home

Monroe Animal Control says "Shelly" was found wandering around on Barn Hill Road on Wednesday night.

A stray beagle-mix Monroe Animal Control officers are calling "Shelly" was seen wandering in a Barn Hill Road neighborhood at around 7 p.m. Wednesday. A woman took the dog inside and gave her a much-needed bath before bringing the animal to the shelter on Purdy Hill Road Thursday morning.

One officer said Shelly, who is just over a year-old, was "a real sweetie pie", adding the dog got along well with the woman's golden retriever while spending the night at her home.

Monroe Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said Shelly has no collar and that there is evidence that she recently had puppies. She was "loaded with ticks" when she was found and will receive treatment for worms.
