An 82-year-old Windgate Circle woman was scammed out of a total of $788 in May, according to a police report filed on July 26.
On May 14, police said the woman received a call from someone claiming to be a representative of U.S. Magazines, who told her she owed $388 for past due magazine subscriptions. She reportedly gave her credit card information over the phone and paid the bill in full.
She didn't know if she owed the money, but paid to protect her credit rating, police said.
