A former manager of Anytime Fitness, 380 Monroe Turnpike, allegedly added hours a personal trainer did not work to her time sheets, then endorsed her checks to himself, paid her what she was owed in cash and pocketed the difference, according to police.
Darryl Bayne, 49, of Noble Avenue in Bridgeport was arrested on a warrant July 19 and charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree forgery and released on $2,500 bond for a July 26 court date.
Police said the owner of Anytime Fitness lodged the complaint in May after the trainer told him she had not been paid for two weeks.
An investigation determined that Bayne cashed nine checks totaling $5,390, police said. But police did not disclose how much of it Bayne allegedly took for himself.
