Gov. Dannel Malloy Welcomes European Retailer Primark to Connecticut

The opening of Primark in the Danbury Fair Mall has created more than 220 new jobs in the community for Monroe area residents.

Danbury, CT — European fashion retailer Primark opened its third U.S. location at the Danbury Fair Mall on June 10, 2016 with Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy joining in the celebration.

Primark has 300 stores in 11 countries, including one in Boston, Mass. and another in King of Prussia, Penn.
Malloy, along with Primark executives, employees, community officials and local business leaders held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the mall on Saturday.

“We are pleased to welcome Primark to the great state of Connecticut. This expansion will help grow jobs and establish another bookend at Danbury Fair Mall,” said Gov. Malloy. “We are honored that Primark would choose Connecticut for its third location in the United States.”

Paul Marchant, Primark Chief Executive said, “We continue to receive extremely positive customer feedback and the opening of our third store at Danbury Fair Mall marks another important step in presenting the Primark brand to U.S consumers and raising awareness of our unique formula of Amazing Fashion, Amazing Prices.”

Primark’s Danbury Fair Mall store is located on the mall’s upper level and spans 53,800 sq. ft. of retail space in the former Sears location which has downsized to one floor below. The store includes 65 fitting rooms, 47 registers, access to free Wifi and two customer “recharge” seating areas.

The opening of the Danbury location has created more than 220 new jobs in the community.
