Three years ago today, Monroe Patch made its debut and this Saturday it's still standing. We have gone through a lot together with news stories about our town, videos, comments — and even cartoon characters. Now we're adjusting to the redesign called Patch 2.0.
As we embark on year four, I want to thank all of you for making it possible for Patch to get this far. It never would have lasted this long without you — sharing your stories, posting letters, announcements and events, participating in the comments and visiting us as often as you do.
I know the recent switch to 2.0 has been a difficult adjustment period for many and I hope you all stick with it so we can make it work.
This latest version of Patch is meant to make it easier for you to post Boards, calendar events and your own blogs. Kinks are still being worked out.
One thing that will be awesome is the iPhone app that has yet to be rolled out. Other editors and I are currently using it and it has enabled us to take photos and video and post stories on the go.
An effort is being made to focus our coverage less on public officials and more on the people who live in our town. Though there is a movement away from government meeting coverage, I am confident we can find more creative ways to get the news out there.
It's been a fun ride these first three years and I'm looking forward to another year of Patch with you.
