Videos and Photos of the Monroe Outstanding Citizen Ceremony
Town Council Chairwoman Enid Lipeles recalls her days as an chemistry teacher, family and thanks all who chose nominated her for the annual award.
Members of Enid Lipeles' family, including her husband, sister and daughter, and those who taught with her at Masuk High School like Betty Heiney and Gin Pettigrew were among the crowd that filled the Council Chambers of town hall Monday night to watch her receive this year's Outstanding Citizen Award.
The ceremony included a reception in the lobby, the presentation of the award and of a special gavel carved by Doug Fedorko's woodworking class at Masuk, a video presentation prepared by town students, an introduction from First Selectman Steve Vavrek and a few words from Lipeles herself.
Past winners attending the ceremony were former first selectman, Karen Burnaska, and businessman and longtime Monroe resident Bernie Sippin.
