Maintenance Work on Stevenson Dam to Cause Closure and Traffic Detour
Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, and Southbury drivers may experience delays due to dam maintenance.
Monroe, CT -- (March 30, 2016) - FirstLight Hydro Generating Company (FirstLight) is announcing the closure and detour of traffic on CT 34 (Roosevelt Drive) in both directions at the Stevenson Dam, located at the Oxford / Monroe town line, from 6 am on Saturday, June 4, 2016, until 11:59pm on Monday, June 6, 2016. The closure and traffic detour is necessary to perform maintenance work on the Stevenson Dam. In an effort to minimize the impact to the public, most of the work will be done throughout the weekend. The same closure will reoccur from 6 am on Saturday, June 25, 2016 until 11:59pm on Sunday, June 26, 2016.
Traffic will be detoured using CT Route 111, CT Route 110, and Bridge Street in the City of Shelton. Long-distance traffic is advised to take CT 8 and I-84 to avoid the Stevenson Dam.

Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour signs and follow the directions of the uniformed police officers.
