Man Arrested and Charged in Fatal Crash Resulting in Monroe Man's Death: Police

A Bridgeport man was arrested for killing a 68-year-old Monroe man.

MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department arrested Andres Hernandez Jr. for his involvement in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Route 110 back on June 18, 2016.

Hernandez, of Bridgeport, turned himself in at the police department late on Wednesday and was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to obey a stop sign, police said. Hernandez was driving a GMC pickup truck and towing a trailer on Wheeler Road and failed to stop for the stop sign at RT 110.

Russell Curtiz, 68, was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Route 110 when he was struck by the GMC pickup truck, police said. He died of his injuries.

Andres Hernandez was held on a $20,000 court set bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Bridgeport Superior Court on Sept. 8, 2016.
