The man was seriously injured in the March 21 crash, as well as causing injuries to an innocent driver, police say.

NEWTOWN, CT — The man who evaded Monroe police in a stolen car before losing control and crashing into another car on Rte. 25 in Newtown back in March was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges, according to Monroe police. Police say Raheim Lewis, 32, of Danbury was driving a car stolen from Danbury before he crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and hit a Mercedes Benz driven by a 46-year-old Sandy Hook woman. He suffered serious injuries in the crash and the woman suffered minor injuries, according to police.
An officer tried to pull Lewis over at 9 p.m. on March 21 while he was traveling towards Newtown on Rte. 25, said police. Lewis sped up as he approached the town line to get away from the officer. Police say Lewis was on parole for unrelated charges and was living in a Danbury halfway house. To sign up for Monroe breaking news alerts and more, click here.
