MONROE, CT — Phyllis Ann Petrino Aiello, of Monroe, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Saturday September 3, 2016 at The Jewish Senior Services, Park Ave, Bridgeport, from an eleven year battle with Alzheimers disease. She was 88 years old. She was the eldest of ten children born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Mark and Jennie Petrino of Bridgeport.
Phyllis was raised in Yellow Mill Village on Bridgeport's east side. She was a graduate of Warren Harding High School, Class of 1946. It was there that she met her true love and soulmate, Anthony, and were married on July 4, 1949. After the birth of their four sons, Phyllis and Anthony moved to Fairfield, where they resided for 45 years. Phyllis was employed by Avco Lycoming Textron for 30 years, and Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for a short period of time. After her retirement she worked part time for The Fairfield Prep Cafeteria Services. Phyllis was an exceptional cook and baker making all types of homemade pastas, Italian cookies and pastries. The High Ridge Road home was a regular stop for family and friends. Her happiest times were spent there in the company of the people she loved. Phyllis's most cherished memories were those spent with her family during holiday celebrations and gatherings, filled with good food and laughter. She worked tirelessly to prepare for those special occasions, and loved every minute of the time spent doing so.
A devout Christian Catholic, she served God by serving others in so many ways. A compassionate and caring person who would lend her ear to so many who needed to share. Her infectious smile, welcoming spirit, and caring heart, will be missed by all who knew her.
