Monroe Board of Finance Rules on Stepney Roof Repairs: Report
Parts of the roof at the school are 26 years old, and the Board of Finance voted on whether $2.6 million should be used to repair the roof.
MONROE, CT — The Stepney Elementary School is getting a refurbished roof, reports the Monroe Courier.
The town's Board of Finance approved $2,650,000 in funding for the replacement of the school's roof by a 5-1 vote. The school is the third school in the district to have it's roof repaired over the past few years, with repairs taking place at Masuk High School and Fawn Hollow Elementary School.
Superintendent Jim Agostine said the oldest sections of the roof were placed 26 years ago, and that water is seeping through the roof into insulation, according to the Courier's report.
