Members of the local business community talked shop over drinks, chicken wings and fried onion rings at Tavern restaurant on Main Street Tuesday evening. It was a business after hours sponsored by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber President Ray Giovanni said Tavern was chosen as the venue because the chamber always supports its members.
"I think it's critically important to catch up with each other and learn about everybody's industries that's current and relevant," he said of the networking event.
Giovanni spent some time talking to Alfred Fressola, a patent attorney with Ware, Fressola, Maguire & Barber LLP, a firm at 755 Main Street.
"He and I were talking about intellectual properties that are critical to all of us," said Giovanni, who is president of Union Savings Bank in Monroe.
Longtime chamber members attended the event, along with two new businesses that may join.
Paul Moyse, a chiropractor in town, invited the business owners, who he shares a building on Monroe Turnpike with.
Ken Larson and John Kukla started Goldfinch Systems together. The business repairs computers and sets up wireless networks for small businesses and home offices.
Husband and wife, Gersain and Terri Munoz own Mother Terra Massage.
"Paul Moyse really thought this was great," Terri said of joining the Monroe Chamber of Commerce."
