Monroe CT Weather: Forrest Gump-Style 'Big, Ole Fat Rain' on Tap

Monroe could get some Forrest Gump kind of rain, the 'big ole fat rain,' on Friday. Find out when you'll need your umbrella.

MONROE, CT — If everyone in Connecticut gets through the early afternoon period on Friday without getting soaked, then it’s a good start to the weekend. But after a possible deluge forecast for the area on Friday, the weekend looks downright pleasant in a meteorological pattern the National Weather Service said is expected to last well into what is back-to-school week for most communities in the state.

So.… what happens on Friday? Probably what Forrest Gump calls “Big, ole fat rain.” The National Weather Service is warning Connecticut residents of a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 p.m., Friday, then a slight chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Otherwise, Friday should be partly sunny, with a high near 88 and a south wind 5 to 7 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon. In all, Friday’s chances of precipitation are 30 percent with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, but higher amounts if a thunderstorm decides to visit the state..
