MONROE, CT — Local democrats have nominated a slate of candidates for the upcoming November election including current Town Councilman Daniel Hunsberger, who will vie for the open First Selectman's seat. The slate included 18 candidates for positions on Town Council, Board of Finance, Board of Education, the Planning and Zoning Commission and town Constable.
Monroe Democrats selected Hunsberger to run for the seat which will be left open by Steve Vavrek. The group will use the theme of "one Monroe" during the upcoming election.
“Challenging times of increased economic pressures from Hartford demand a shared resolve, common vision, and creative bipartisan solutions for Monroe’s future," said Hunsberger during his acceptance speech."A common vision is important, because if we can’t see a better future, then there’s no way to plot our course to it.
