Monroe EDC Leads Roadside Cleanups for Earth Day

Cups, paper wrappers, bottles and cans are among the debris volunteers will remove from the sides of the town's commercial streets.

Groups of volunteers wearing work gloves will remove trash and litter along Monroe's non-residential roads this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. It's all part of the Monroe Economic Development Commission event to celebrate Earth Day.

According to the EDC's flier, the goal is to help make Monroe a better place to live and work. Groups, clubs and individuals are expected to participate.

The EDC's flier says, "Let's use Earth Day to make a difference in Monroe."
