Monroe Fire Department Warns Of Donation Scam
Local firefighters are warning residents of a group soliciting donations in town.

MONROE, CT — Local firefighters are warning residents that a organization is soliciting donations in Monroe via phone calls. The organization does not have a connection to the town's three volunteer fire companies, and the companies receive no funding from the "organization," according to a Facebook post from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
The departments raise funds through boot drives and annual mailings.
The post urged residents to check the return address of mailers to confirm the address will go to the fire departments.
