Monroe Group Starts "Hate Has No Home Here" Project
The project began in Chicago and is taking place across the country.
MONROE, CT — A project that began in Chicago has made its way to the Monroe area. Hear Our Voice CT has started distributing lawn signs in six different languages that say "Hate Has No Home Here," as part of the national project of the same name. The group says that hundreds have been spread throughout the immediate area.
"Its purpose is to help create a community where everyone feels welcomed, valued and safe," read a press release issued Tuesday."Those who display the signs are making a statement that promotes tolerance, respect, compassion and peace."
While signs are being sold for $6.50, the group says the campaign earns no profit and is not affiliated with any political candidate or organizations. The project was started by a group in Chicago, and has since spread nationwide.

However, not all have agreed with the project. A back-and-forth between a man who disagreed with the signs and a 13-year-old boy in Winchester, MA, caught the attention of several big names nationwide.
Hear Our Voice CT added that those wishing to participate in the area are encouraged to e-mail hearourvoicect@gmail.com for information.
