Monroe Honors Outstanding Citizen for 2017
The outstanding citizen was honored at the Town Council meeting Monday night.

Lee Hossler, named Monroe’s Outstanding Citizen for 2017, is flanked by previous recipients of the award, left to right, Bernie Sippin, Enid Lipeles, Karen Burnaska and Deb Heim. Hossler was honored at the Town Council meeting Monday night (May 18) with citations presented by First Selectman Steve Vavrek and State Representative J.P. Sredzinski and a foot stool made of black walnut, originated by Doug Fedorko and his woodworking class at Masuk High School. A video profile of Hossler, created by Vic Casaretti, president of the Monroe Historical Society, was also premiered. At a reception earlier, chamber music was provided by Masuk H.S. students Thomas Shiskin, Ji Won Lee, Kevin Tran, Anika Veeraraghav and Eddie Nicholas.
